Another wonderful evening well spent at Preston Persuaders! 18 members and 2 guests (or, shall I say future members?) were present for Keith's first turn as Toastmaster. Keith masterfully presented the timely and fun topic of "Mother's Day", while our General Evaluator, Dean, and Table Topics Master, Ed, rounded out the meeting by effectively providing feedback and helping our members learn to speak on their feet. All done with humor and enjoyment, of course! Our helpers and evaluators were provided thoughtful comments and feedback, and our speakers brought a wide array of fascinating topics to our stage, including real estate, gardening, health, and how to assert yourself effectively. Another meeting for the history books, and I can't wait to do it again next week. :-)

What an evening! In all, 21 members and 2 guests (or, shall I say future members?) were present for Alex's first turn as Toastmaster. Not only did she present a great theme ("The Road Not Taken"), but no one would believe this was her first turn as Toastmaster. Our General Evaluator, Allen, and Table Topics Master, Mike, helped complete the fabulous trifecta with awesome turns in their respective roles. Our helpers and evaluators were top-notch, and our speakers brought both thoughtful and controversial topics to our stage. It was a wonderful evening of humor, laughter, learning, and excitement… in other words, another fun Monday at Preston Persuaders Toastmasters. :-) Thank you to everyone who came -- see you next week!
April 30th Meeting

If you missed our meeting this evening, you missed a fabulous time as we learned about the history of "May Day". There was laughter, fun, and learning all taking place at the same time. We heard a first-time speaker as well as two advanced speakers. Our evaluators and helpers successfully gave their all to their roles, and I even saw some high fives going on between the members! :-) 22 members were present, and our Toastmaster, Suguna, and General Evaluator, Bryan, ran the meeting so well everything flowed like a well-oiled machine. Thanks to all our members for yet another memorable meeting!

Another Monday evening has come and gone, but it will not soon be forgotten! Our Toastmaster, Rick, brought a wealth of knowledge and feeling to tonight's theme, which focused on appreciating the benefits of diversity. Our helpers, evaluators, and Table Topics participants brought their all, and Dean, our Table Topics Master, made sure all of our members had the opportunity to speak. We had 24 members present and 1 guest. Allen, our newest Competent Communicator (CC), received his official CC name badge, and our 4 newest members received their silver membership pins. It was truly an enjoyable evening well spent!

The fun, humor, learning, and excitement in the room this evening was beyond compare! Ed was our Toastmaster this evening, and wow -- our theme of "Texas Twisters" did not disappoint! I saw members high-fiving each other, smiles on everyone's face. You can't beat that, especially since we're learning at the same time we're smiling! Our speakers ranged from project #2 to a 10th speech from Allen! Congratulations to our newest Competent Communicator, Allen! We had a total of 25 members present (wow!), and 5 guests (woo hoo!) -- two of whom became members! So, please help me in extending a warm and excited welcome to Aaron and Mindy, our newest Preston Persuaders! :-)

Monday evening was a fun-filled, all-Table Topics, extravaganza! There were lots of laughs and tons of practice thinking and speaking on our feet! Jyo, our incomparable Toastmaster/Table Topics Master guided us through the meeting with impeccable skill and humor. We had 19 members present, and 3 guests -- two of whom became members! A hearty welcome to Ram and Uma, our newest PPTM'ers! We also welcomed Aaron as a guest, and, if I'm not mistaken, he may also be joining the club next week! Oh, the power of Toastmasters, learning, and fun!

"I love this club." I heard that from one of our fellow members at last night's meeting. The energy in the room was something special... members greeting each other with smiles, handshakes, and hugs... humor... happy chatter... a fascinating and diverse array of speeches and table topics, including an awesome Ice Breaker... four guests... 23 members present... one anticipated new member... supportive feedback... an awesome theme... what else could you want in a Toastmasters club?
2011 World Champion of Public Speaking

Jock Elliott, a fellow Toastmaster from Australia, giving the speech that won him the title of 2011 World Champion of Public Speaking. This competition takes place during the Toastmasters' International Convention every year, and each competitor started with the International Speech contests held in the thousands of clubs around the world each year, including ours!

After a week away, the energy in the room this week was as vibrant as ever, and the topics of our speakers could not have been more varied! The theme of our meeting was "Just Be", and this Zen-like philosophy was echoed again and again throughout the meeting!

Dave took first place in the Area 24 Table Topics contest, and will represent our club and the Area at the Division contest on the morning of Saturday, April 14th. Mark your calendars! While Guy did not place in the International speech contest, he delivered a strong and moving speech and, like Dave, represented our club with class!
